-59-
• MR. DANIELSON: Yeah. I guess my concern is I saw the slides and saw a
pretty muddy situation out there and -- you know -- it does seem to me that
that's something that deserves a lot of attention.
MR. HOLDER: I do think it might help if the people of San Luis realize
that these people are committing to a performance standard. It's not a fixed
method, per se, this is what they think it~ey have to do in order to keep the
stream from getting silted up. If this isn't the right answer, they're
committed to find the right answer. And it might make folks feel a little bit
better to realize this isn't the only solution to a problem.
MR. MASSEY: I'd like Anne to respond to that slide, because, I think
that was a bit misleading, and Anne has got factual information in that regard.
MS. BALDRIGE: I believe that and -- also if Gary Dodson wants to chime
in -- I believe that several of those slides of sediment shown were shown on
• the ezistng county road or other existing roads in the area, ands that the road
designed by Battle Mountain has taken into account additional sediment control
measures that are not in practice on existing roads in that area currently.
MR. JOUFLAS: Okay.
MR. HOLDER: Battle Mountain hasn't built any new roads in there yet,
have they? Or improved the old?
MS. BALDRIGE: Exploration, they have built exploration roads in that
area, but no mine roads.
MR. HOLDER: Yeah. No part of the new road has been built?
MS. BALDRIGE: No.
•
