-55-
MR. JOUFLAS: I don't know, was he sworn in?
UNKNOWN SPEAKER: Jim, come on up. Introduce yourself, please.
MR. JIM JOHNSON: MY name is Jim Johnson. I am a registered professional
engineer in Colorado -- over 10 years of experience, mostly on mining projects
similar to this; Bachlors Degree from Cornell and a Masters Degree in
Technical Engineering from Purdue. The sediment facilities, the sediment
control facilities were designed for short term high intensity storms. As
well as all of the facilities for flood routing were designed to handle the
100-year 24-hour storm which is -- we'll bring this up in relation to the
discussions on Charlie Jaquez's questions on the flood plains. I don't know
the exact number associated with the design storm for the sediment-control
facilities. Anne has the document here.
The 100 year 24-hour storm at this site is 2.9 inches which is the
predominant storm that we use to design most of these facilities.

MR. HOLDER: But, a five minute duration -- maybe 7 inches an hour
intensity -- 6 1/2?
MR JOHNSON: Seven inches per hour, no.
UNKNOWN SPEAKER: That's a lot.
MR. JOUFLAS: Oh, Jesus.
MR. HOLDER: No, it isn't.
MR. ENTZ: Isn't it1
MR. DANIELSON: Not for 5 foot high...
