Mining Plan for the Mekelburg Pit
The Mekelburg Pit is not actually a pit, but a creek
bottom.
The gravel is loosened by the use of a bull dozer.
Afterwards, the gravel is loaded into belly dump
trucks with the aid of a front-end loader. The
gravel is then transported to the construction site
for use on County roads.
The banks of the creek bottom are gently reshaped
as the gravel crews work in the creek bottom. This
will insure uniform banks.
