C~
Approval from State and local government is not necessary to
restore the pre-mining land use because post-mining land use which
GEC Minerals, Inc. propose as rangeland and wildlife habitat will
be consistent with the pre-mining land use as indicated above.
2.05.6 Mitigation of Surface Mining Impact
Air Pollution Control Plan. A Fugitive Dust Permit or Emissions
Permit has been applied for from the Colorado Department of Health
Air Quality Division. The application is included as Exhibit 8.
GEC Minerals, Inc. currently maintains and plans to continue to
maintain a fugitive dust control program as an integral part of the
mining and reclamation activities. The principle control practices
which GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to follow are outlined as follows:
Roads. GEC Minerals, Inc. employs a dust suppression program
• for haul roads and access roads which involves periodic
watering or wetting down the road and side ditches with a
water truck. It is anticipated that this is required only
during the warm dry periods of the year. The water truck
will wet down the roads as required particularly during the
hot dusty portions of the year to minimize the amount of
dust and at any rate will water them at least two or three
times per shift period during this period of the year. If
determined to be necessary a chemical dust suppressant will
be added to the water and utilized to maximize the effective-
ness of the watering program. GEC Minerals, Inc. currently
however does not use a chemical dust suppressant with its
watering program.
GEC Minerals, Inc. also utilizes motor graders and scrapers
to repair the haul and access roads as required in order
to maintain them in a smooth and safe condition.
