GEC Minerals, Inc. does not anticipate the construction of spoil
disposal structures since they are not applicable for this type
of configuration of operation.
Coal Handling Structures. GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to utilize the
existing coal handling structures in the tipple area for crushing
and distribution of the coal which it plans to mine during the
period 1981 through 1985. These structures are located on the
Existing Structures Map No. 22 for the tipple area. Coal from the
mine area is hauled via the Haul Road "A" which intersects County
Highway 93 to the tipple area. GEC Minerals currently utilizes the
shop facilities at the tipple area as the primary maintenance
facility for the crusher and belt structures. GEC Minerals, Inc.
also anticipates continuation of the operation of the mine past
1985 and therefore does not immediately plan to dismantle or remove
the coal handling structures which it currently is using. Maint-
• enance of the area surrrounding the coal handling facilities is
accomplished utilizing front end loaders or motor graders to salvage
fines and coal spillage from the crusher and conveyor belts.
The facilities are used primarily to size the coal in preparation
for market.
The coal handling facilities which GEC Minerals, Inc. utilizes
were constructed by previous operators prior to 1976. The facilities
consist of a truck dump, crusher, conveyor belt and distribution
conveyor belt. Their construction is modular for ease of dismantling
and moving to another site. GEC Minerals, Inc. plans to continue to
utilize these facilities in their present location for the remaining
life of the mine. However, upon the end of the life of the mine these
facilities will be dismantled, removed and sold to the local salvage
yard. The facilities area will then be regraded as shown on the
Post-Mining Topography Map No. 24.
•
2.05-20
