Production which GEC Minerals, Inc. expects during the next five (5)
years ranges from 150,000 tons in 1981 to 350,000 tons in 1985.
Overburden production likewise is expected to increase in proportion
to the expected increase in coal production. (See Table 2.05-1,
Annual Production Schedule.)
GEC Minerals pit is mined in a Southerly direction as shown on
Map 15, Mine Plan. The pit is extended by approximately 100 foot
wide benches toward the South which uncover each seam as shown in
the Mine Plan Cross Section Map No. 16. The current mine plan shows
that in 1982 the initial pit will be mined up to the existing lease
boundary on the West and will move to a new adjacent area towards
the East and mine parallel to the existing pit in a Southerly
direction. Material from the initial new pit will be placed in a
temporary stockpile adjacent to the area which has already been
mined or utilized to backfill the existing pit near the Western
• boundary. Once the new pit is established and moves towards the
South, the pit will be backfilled from overburden material from the
active benches. It is expected that the last pit will be mined in
1985 and that overburden material from the temporary stockpile will
be utilized to backfill the final pit.
It is anticipated that this entire operation will be conducted
with a single permit area as identified on the Mine Plan Map No. 15.
The mine facilities are located Northwest of the mining operation
and are accessed by County Road 93. The tipple area consists of
a truck dump, crusher and belt conveyors. In addition, the area is
also utilized for stockpiling the coal. Offices, shops and other
maintenance facilities are also located in the tipple area. These
facilities are shown on the Existing Structures Map No. 22 for the
Tipple Area.

2.05-2
