Reynolds Pit
DMG 112 Application
Exhibit D - Minine Plan
e) Anew haul road was built as par[ of M-85-163 TR No.l from Townsend Road, through
the approximate center of the 34 acre property, then north along the west boundary,
entering the existing pit in the northwest comer of the Reynolds property. Mining began
on the Reynolds property in 2004. Only 17 acres of the Reynolds property immediately
south of the Fedler property will be mined the full depth of the deposit. Mining in this
area will commence in the west half of the area and proceed south to within 25 feet of the
drainage ditch which is to serve as the south boundary of the 17-acre pazcel. Mining will
then proceed east until all gravel has been mined. Reclamation will commence on the
northern part of the property as soon as is practical when enough space has been opened
on the pit floor so that processing equipment placement and stockpiling do not interfere
with reclamation. The agreement with the county states that no more than 20 acres of un-
reclaimed disturbance will exist at any one time and that processing equipment will be
kept on the pit floor as faz west and south as practical. We expect the life of the mine to
be approximately 15 yeazs with the tazget date of fall of 2021 for completion of mining
activities. The 17 acre parcel of Reynolds property south of the haul road is currently an
irrigated alfalfa field. There are some pockets of gravel very neaz the surface in this area
that may be excavated to a depth of 3 to 6 feet and leveled with topsoil if sufficient
quantities exist. This would occur sometime during the life of the mine if an acceptable
deal can be made with a contractor using the pit, and would be completed within one
season so that the owner could cultivate the ground the following season.
f) The deposit to be mined consists of stream terrace deposit if sand and gravel with an
average thickness of about 25 feet. Soil overburden is characterized as Mesa Loam with
topsoil thickness of 4 to 14 inches on top of up to 46 inches of pink clay loam to pale
brown extremely gravelly loam. Discussions with Greg Fedler indicate that there may be
portions of the Reynolds property that contain fill material where the overburden is
considerably thicker due to filling of a drawn to create a farmable field many years ago.
Mancos Shale underlies the gravel deposit.
g) The primary commodity to be mined is sand and gravel for construction aggregate.
h) The only incidental products to be extracted would be excess overburden and topsoil to
be used on the south Reynolds parcel for improvement of the irrigated field as described
above.
