• 3.5.6 ROAD RECLAMATION
When roads are no longer required for mining operations, they will be
scarified and regraded to approximate original contour. If topsoil was
removed from the road area, it will be retopsoiled. All regraded roads
will be revegetated in accordance with applicable State and Federal law.
Six roads will remain at the time of mine closure. These roads will
be retained to access various areas of the mine for on-going monitoring and
future management of the area. The locations of the retained roads and
associated culverts are shown of Exhibit 3.5-7. These roads are designated
as:
1. North Road
2. Skyline Drive
3. Lower Moffat Road
a, west Ridge Road
5. Oak Creek Entrance Road
• 6. The complete profile of this road is depicted on the following
profile segments: R-R' (Exhibit 3.5-23), D-D' (Exhibit 3.5-8), F-F'
(Exhibit 3.5-10), F'-G' (Exhibit 3.5-11; from Culvert E1 to G'), and H-H'
(Exhibit 3.5-12). Specific cross-sections for this road are provided on
Exhibits 3.5-36 and 3.5-43 while a typical cross-section is depicted on
Exhibit 3.5-Sa. The profile segment locations and the cross-section
locations are shown on Exhibit 3.5-1. Culverts to be retained in
associati on with this road include: E5, E4, E3, E2, E1 and E12. A typical
culvert i nstallation is shown on Exhibit 3.5-2.
The surfaced portion of the roadway will be narrowed to have a
maximum w idth of 40 feet. This width is considered appropriate to enable
unimpeded two-way traffic of semi-tractor-trailer vehicles and/or farming
equipment . Narrowing of the road surface will be performed by reclaiming
• the downs lope side of the roadway. Gravel on the portion of the road to be
TR-35 3.5-6 July 21, 1997
