Section 780.21 (b)
L J
willingness to make every effort to control erosion. Delay of check dam
installation pending regulatory approval of a technical revision would
defeat the purpose of the check dams, which is to provide immediate control
of small, localized erosional problems. Therefore, submittal and prior
approval of check dam designs is not practical. Should prior approval of
small check dams such as those described above be required, EFC's proposal
to construct such check dams should be deemed withdrawn.
Drainage control from such facilities as haul roads, parking lots, tipple.
areas, buildings and other structures is an important factor in minimizing
contributions of sediment outside the permit area. All such facilities have
been designed and build~"or will be built and maintained or modified to
provide for proper handling of runoff. Sediment control associated with
Tipple 2 is found under Section 780.12. Design criteria for haul roads
include installation of lateral bar ditches, cross drains, ditch relief
drains, construction of a four percent crown, avoidance of steep grades
• where possible, proper sizing and placement of culverts, placement of
dugouts or other small detention structures, riprap and other energy
dissipators,
C~
J
780-151(d) Revised 06/01/88
