As with groundwater monitoring, necessary surface water measurements and sample analysis will utilize accepted
procedures. Effluent limitations for discharges from sedimentation control structures are specified in Permit
~enewal Exhibit ~, NPDES Permit.
Documentation and Renortine
All surface and groundwater monitoring data will be permanently recorded and maintained in the Colorado Yampa
Coal Company files.
The data required under the NPDES permit will be filed as dictated by the permit. Colorado Yampa Coal
Company will submit a separate letter of notification to the Division of the NPDES report filing.
A report summarizing all monitoring data for the water year from October through September will be submitted to
the regulaton~ agency by March 31st of the following year.
Probable Hydrolo2ic Consequences
.Evaluation of the probable hydrologic consequences of the mining and related activities encompasses a number of
specific areas:
• Determination of baseline surface and groundwater quality and quantity conditions
• Identification of normal, seasonal, and areal variations in baseline levels
• Definition of the relationship between surface and groundwater systems
• Definition and evaluation of potential mining-related impacts on the area hydrologic system
• identification and evaluation of protection and mitigation measures
• Evaluation of the significance of potential mining-related impacts given the factors of baseline
conditions, hydrologic connections, mitigation measures, relative contributions, time constraints
and water use permits
•
1996 Permit Ren.
