It ie in the southeastern part of the
Washakie-Sand Waeh Structural Basin on the eastern
limb of the Twentymile Park Syncline.
Overburden
(Subsurface Geology) The coal-bearing sedimentary unite were deposited
in coastal and marine environments, and were folded
and faulted during the Laramide Orogeny. At least
two systems of faults can be found. They have
recognizable, normal displacements and steep dips.
Chemical and physical analysis of lithological'ly
repreeeatative drill hole samples found no
acid-forming or toxic-forming materials.
Soils All of the soils mapped were in the soil order
Mollisol except for the Binco soil, which was in
the soil order Aridieol. In all, ten established
series, one variant and three unnamed aeries were
found. Using Soil Conservation Service guldelinea,
all of the topsoil was rated either good or fair as
soil material.
Vegetation Seven main vegetation types ware found and they
were sampled for cover, production and density. No
threatened or endangered species were found.
Nydrology The mine itself contalne no streams but is bounded
on the east by Oak Creek and on the west by Trout
Creek. Runoff from the mine is a very small
portion of their flow and it ie predicted that
surface runoff volume will be unaffected by mining.
Nowever, dissolved solid concentrations in Trout
Creek will increase after mining. No aquifers were
PR-67
1.0-2
