October 23. 1981
RBC Board o! County Comniaeionere
Rio Blanco County Courthouse
Meeker. CO 81641
Centlemens
>~
This letter ie to protest the application of the Stout/Amiek gravel pit
application for special use as it relates to property owned in the SF}f
of Sec 31. T1R, R93W of the 6th P.H. We would 17ke ro protest the
applieation because i° granted, our property will decrease in value by
its operation. Presently, there is no access into the proposed mine
area. Anew road will have to be built end ae we understand the
proposal, the road wilt. he built nn property now owned by Phyllis Arnick,
however, it is uncertain where the road will be constructed.
41e havo dust bui.l.t a raw home in the SHkSF~ of Sec. 31, T1N, R93e, of
the 6th P.M, which will be located within 1,000 feet of the proposed
prevel operation. The reeultinp, noise and air pollution Prom the
operation of heavy equipment, trucks, crvehers, wash pl.ents, and related
activities, nll take away from the value of our property which we have
worked hard for and wfiich i.e brand new having been completed in July,
1981. B~cauae we don'[ know the extent of the proposed operation, it le
hard for ue to speculate on what rill happen as a result of vibration
from the operation of the heavy equipment on our home property, however,
thnt ie a possible problem that will have to be dealt with.
We are further concerned about tha lnereased traffi.e thnt will be put
upon Bneel£ne Road (County Road 4) ae a result of this operation. Aa
the Commissioners know, there are already three operating travel pits on
County Road 4 itself and at the intersection of County Road 4 and County
Road 8. Berry Brothers hoe leased a pit from Bachmann which increases
traffic when their trucks coma around the Meea Road to avoid going
through town for deliveries to the vast and south of Heeker. It does
not seem that at the preeent time there is a need for another operating
