Life of the Operation
The operation will begin following issuance of the permit. It is anticipated that
only about one acre will be mined per year. On the basis of this rate of extraction, the
life of the operation is estimated to be about 20 years.
Phases of Mininc,Land Reclamation
Mining will occur in phases. Each phase will consist of a topsoil stockpile,
overburden stockpile, mine pit and product stockpile. Atypical layout is illustrated on
the Exhibit C map. However, soil and overburden piles, and equipment, will move
around the property as the mining advances.
It is anticipated that there will be three phases of the operation as follows:
PHASE AREAL ESTIMATED TIME PERIODz

1 5.8 ac. 5-6 yrs.
2 5.5 ac. 5-6 yrs.
3 9.5 ac. 9-10 vrs.
20.8 ac. ~ 20 yrs.2
i The permit area is 40.24 acres. However the actual area to be disturbed
is only about 23.5 acres. This is 20.8 acres for phases 1-3 (+) about 2.7
acres for the detention pond and other misc. uses.
z Estimated on basis of 15,000 tons per year production.
Concurrent Reclamation
Reclamation will occur in conjunction with the mining operation to the extent
practicable. It is planned that no more than five acres will be mined at any one time. A
maximum of 10 acres of total disturbance (five acres of pit and the remainder being the
detention pond stockpile areas, and other miscellaneous disturbances) will occur at
any time before reclamation commences. This is a limitation established by Douglas
County for the site and will also be the basis for calculating the financial warranty.
-6-
