• Table 2.04.3-2, from the Colorado Conservation Guide of the Soil Conserva- <br />tion Service, explains the capability classification system. <br />In general, the soils within the permit area have a low potential for <br />development as cropland because of their steep slopes. Although the soils are <br />relatively stable under the existing vegetative types, clearing and planting <br />crops in any of the soils would result in extreme erosion conditions that would <br />limit acceptable crop yields over the long run, as shown by the capability <br />classifications.
