The Division will be
interested to hear their opinions on the potential impacts to wildlife in the area as this may affect
the design of the reclamation plan.
6.4.9 EXHIBIT 1- Soils Information
The soil descriptions supplied with the application are adequate to describe the soils present on
the proposed mining site along with the proposed reapplication depths.
6.4.10 EXHIBIT J- Vegetation information
(1) The application should include a narrative of the following;
(a) descriptions of present vegetative types which include quantitative estimates of
cover and height for the principal species in each life form represented( ie, trees
tall shrubs, low shrubs ,grasses , fortis etc.);
(c) estimates of carrying capacity for rangelands;
(2) The application shall show the relation of the types of vegetation to existing topography
on a map in Exhibit C.
6.4.11 EXHIBIT K-Climate
No Comment.
6.4.12 EXHIBIT L- Reclamation Costs
There are a few questions and clarifications required for this exhibit as follows:
I .Although it appears that calculations were conducted for replacing one foot of topsoil over I S
acres, the summary of tasks in the middle of page 34 shows a soil depth of 6 inches.
2. The average push distance for respreading the topsoil that was used was 250 or less, however,
on a 15 acre disturbance the lengths of the pit walls would be approximately 800 feet.
Depending on the pit configuration and where the topsoil is stockpiled, 2~0 feet seems to be
short on the push distance and consequently on the cost per cubic yard to move.
3. The application states that the deposit is up to 20 feet thick, therefore, the Division would
assume that the slope reduction height would be 20 feet not 10 feet over a distance of
