.`
William Pulford
BLM District Manager
July 9, 1985
Page Two
The methods of hydrologic well completion will meet USGS
standards and an illustration of hydrologic well completion is provided in
the attached hydrologic project description entitled "Project Proposal
CO-85-V, Colorado District - Water Resources Division". This project
description has been supplied by the WRD and addresses the overall hydro-
logic program in detail.
Detailed water well development and abandonment information will
be provided to the BLM in the form of the Abandonment Report upon comple-
tion of the 1985 field activities as outlined in the stipulations of FCEL
C-40288. All drill pads and access roads will be reclaimed by Getty in the
manner as described in the original FCEL application.
GETTY DISCLAIMS AMY LONG TERM LIABILITY REGARDING THE FINAL
ABANDO~TIENT OF THE MONITOR WELLS; DATA COLLECTION OR ANALYSES. Getty will
seek relinquishment of the posted compliance bond at the proper time upon
expiration of FCEL C-40288. Getty will not expect any delay in bond
release regarding the liability of the monitor wells.
In addition to the proposed hydrologic phase of the exploration
program at Har[ Syncline the 1985 program includes the approved drilling
and coring program very similar to that which was conducted under a
previous FCEL. The 1985 drilling and coring program consists of a total of
21 drill holes at 15 locations. The total footage to be drilled in 1985 is
estimated to be 8660 feet; which includes approximately 1660 feet of core.
The table entitled "1985 Drill Hole Summary" and attached map
outlines the intended 1985 drill holes, their locations and estimated
depths. As a result of a recent field inspection and to accommodate the
interests of our FCEL participant, some of the original drill hole loca-
tions previously outlined in the FCEL application have been moved to
provide a more adequate data base to access the quantity and quality of the
potentially surface mineable reserves. IN NO WAY DOES THE PLANNED 1985
PROGRAM EXCEED THE ORIGINAL NUMBER OF DRILL HOLE LOCATIONS OR TOTAL LENGTH
OF ACCESS ROAD CONSTRUCTION COVERED BY THE AMOUNT OF COMPLIANCE BOND POSTED
BY GETTY.
The 1985 exploration program at Hart Syncline will be conducted
under the rules and regulations in FCEL C-40288 and ss described in the
original FCEL application. The drill holes not utilized as hydrologic
monitor wells will be abandoned in the manner previously described in the
FCEL application. The exact drill hole and access road locations will be
subject to final approval through a pre-drill inspection with your agency
at a later date.
