•
Ms. Vickie Traxler
December 26, 1979
Page two
9. The proposed site is
present flow path of
the Corp report, the
as much as 2000 feet
channel encroachment
encroachment should
extent.
generally 1500 feet north of the
the river. From the aerials in
river appears to have meandered
north at various times. Thus,
is not a problem but floodway
probably be considered to some
5. A reclamation plan is included.
Based on the above findings we offer the following recommen-
dations:
A. Any operations of this gravel pit should not obstruct
the passage of the 100-year flood flow to the point
that it has any adverse effects on others. Levees,
dikes, stockpiles and similiar obstructions should be
kept to minimums.
B. Fuel tanks, septic tanks and any other items that might
wash away during flooding and create "hazards to public
health" should be securly anchored and adequately flood-
proofed to avoid creation of this type hazard.
C. All temporary buildings should be securely anchored
and adequately floodproofed. Following completion of
mining, all temporary buildings should be removed.
D. Any water pumped from the site should not cause flooding
or create hazards to others.
E. Following completion of mining, all dikes, levees, and
any remaining stockpiles should be leveled and the terrain
returned to normal as much as possible. Also, after
reclamation, this land should remain floodway.
Should you have any questions concerning our recommendations,
we will be happy to respond.
Very truly yours,
Q.
