Open Cut Gravel Pit Application
near Windsor, Colorado. W'd of NW; of Section 19, T6N,
R67W, 6th P.M.
Dear Ms. Traxler:
We have made a flood hazard review for the La Poudre special
use permit application and find the following:
1. The proposed gravel pit is located in the 100-year
floodplain of the Cache La Poudre River. The floodplain
is described in an October, 1975 U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers Report titled "Flood Plain Information, Cache
La Poudre River, Colorado Volume III, Fort Collins -
Greeley, Larimer - Weld County." This report was designated
by the Colorado Water Conservation Board on March 17, 1976
and thus is available to local governments for regulation
purposes.
2. No defined floodway exists for this reach of the Cache
La Poudre River, nor is FIA determining one in their
present study.
3. From the assumed elevations shown on the plans, which
should be slightly higher than USGS sealevel datum, the
gravel pit would be under approximately 5 feet of water
during a 100-year event. Please note the attached data
from the Corps report.
Under State criteria where depth of flooding is
greater than 18", this pit would be in the floodway.
k
