Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 28 Page 2
003-2203
Caterpillar 966 loader and placed in the random fill construction area, northeast of the compacted SF
footprint, where the Arequa gulch sedimentation pond will later be constructed.
. Ames conducted slope re-contouring in the Phase Na azea included blasting east of the existing
HWY 67, at Permanent Diversion Channel stations 34+00 through 40+00 on August 13`h through
16a'.
No confirmation drilling or underground working remediation occurred within the Phase IVa azea
during this reporting period.
Phase Nb
Ames continued placement and compaction efforts of SF, west of the active crusher, for the new
LOB construction subgrade. Ames placed SF in approximately 2-foot lifts, removed oversized and
deleterious material (roots, branches), moisture conditioned, and compacted the fill which was
borrowed from the Phase IVa slope excavation and the Phase Nb and IVc local borrow located
north of the active fill. Compaction was attained by use of a smooth drum vibratory compactor and
supplemented by haul trucks splitting their tracks across the fill.
No confirmation drilling or underground working remediation occurred within the Phase IVb azea
during this reporting period.
Phase Nc
~ • Ames continued some rough slope re-contouring within the Phase IVc azea by removing cut material
and placing it in the Phase IVb LOB ftll.
Ames conducted confirmation drilling at UG-236, and began confirmation drilling at UG-294B.
Ames was unable to confirm any new underground working at either UG-236 or UG-294B. Botl•
workings drilled during this reporting period remain outstanding as drilling is incomplete to date.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase N areas.)
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed clearing and grubbing activities in Upper Arequa Gulch (Phase IVa). Clearing and
grubbing activities were conducted within the clearing limits.
Golder monitored SF placement in alI the Phase IV areas including, verification of lift thickness,
material, compactive effort, particle size, and temperature for compliance with the drawings and
specifications. Three nucleaz moisture density tests were performed on the Phase Nb LOB area and
passed SF compaction specifications. No moisture/density tests were performed on SF in the Phase
IVa azea during this reporting period, as material was an-testable per ASTM D698, based on
laboratory testing and visual determination. Golder observed the removal of oversized and
deleterious material from the fill.

PAue Na 2B Augi2-tB.doc Golder Associates Inc.
