Phase IV Weekly Summary No. 38 Page 3 <br />later date. <br />003-2203 <br />Ames performed confirmatory drilling activities associated with the Phase IVc construction azea on <br />known underground working UG-239 in azeas where laterals were visible after the excavation was <br />complete. <br />Ames conducted blast drilling at UG-239 where confirmation drilling had identified underground <br />workings within the remediation zone. Ames blasted at UG-239 on October 22"a at 17:00. <br />Ames did not perform any cut or fill activities within the Phase IVc azeas during this reporting <br />period. <br />(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase N areas.) <br />Field Monitoring and Testing Activities <br />Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction <br />materials and soil materials were verified as suitable and construction methods were in accordance <br />with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill azeas was <br />observed. <br />Golder observed and documented confirmation drilling and excavation activities associated with the <br />Phase fV construction. Full time monitoring was given to remediation of underground workings. <br />Golder observed cleazing and grubbing within the Phase IV azea. All available topsoil was removed <br />and deleterious material hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch. <br />Golder observed demolition of the old Highway 67 and the Cazlton retaining wall. Waste materials <br />were hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch. <br />Golder resumed Electronic hnaging (EI) work in the Phase IVb and the Phase IVc areas on October <br />22"a Golder performed six additional EI lines to supplement the work performed in 1999 and 2000. <br />Laboratory Test Results <br />Golder obtained a sample of Select Structural Fill (SeSFa-01) for particle size and Atterberg Limits <br />testing. Select Structural Fill tested met the project specifications and a summary of the laboratory <br />test results is presented in Attachment C. <br />Meetines <br />CC&V held a Weekly Contractor meeting on October 23`a. Items discussed include Safety, <br />Environmental, Schedule, and CQA.
