RECLAMATION PLAN
Revegetation Program.
EXHIBIT E (contl
The revegetation program to be carried out by the operator is detailed below. Background
information used for this section came from information supplied by the Soil Conservation Service
in Eagle, Colorado, from landowner input and from information gathered on a site visit. That
information is located in Soi/s and Vegetation - Exhibit //Jofthisapplication.
The plan is designed to create a vegetative cover that is at least equal in extent to the cover
ofthe natural vegetation prior to mining. Grass species native to the area have been included. Since
the intended use of the reclaimed land is grazing/hay field, the land will be restored to slopes
commensurate with such uses, including flood irrigation.
Seed will be drilled on mild sloping areas and hydro-mulched on the steeper inside slopes
of the sight berm. Where this is not possible, the seed mixture will be doubled and broadcast. The
revegetation plan provides for the greatest probability of success in plant establishment and
vegetative development by considering environmental factors such as seasonal patterns of
precipitation, temperatures and wind. Other factors, such as soil texture, fertility, slope stability and
the direction in which slopes face, have been considered. A weed control plan is included in the
program. Access roads will be constructed through the areas to be planted to provide access for
planting crews and for the supervision and inspection ofthe reclamation plan. The landowners may
wish to keep these roads for access during irrigation season.
As stated in the mine plan section, B&B will collect samples of undisturbed and redistribu-
ted soil, have it analyzed, and add fertilizers as indicated by test results. This will be done every
three years during the concurrent mining and reclamation operations.
When the soils and suitable material have been spread, the surface will be smoothed and
worked until moderately fine where the seed is to be spread; the surface will be left fairly rough
~1
50
