The DMG requires management of any weed listed in its' guidelines that "occur on disturbed
or reclaimed areas within the permit area." Information From the initial site assessment will be used to
determine priorities for management efforts, including selection of best control methods and
timetables for implementation. Since weed control priorities, timetables and control methods will
vary over time as invasions occur and control is designed, implemented and accomplished, the
strategies used each year will be reported in the Edna Mine's annual mining and reclamation report.
Weed control methods aze discussed in more detail in section 2.3, Integrated Weed Management.
After control methods have been implemented it is very important [hat weed invasion surveys
continue and treatment effectiveness monitoring is performed. Periodic surveys enable eazly
detection of weed invasion before significant populations have time to establish and post-treatment
monitoring documents the level of success of weed control efforts and measures. This will allow
modification or substitution of control methods/practices in the event that [he desired results are not
being obtained in a timely fashion. It is also aligned with DMG policy which recommends that
P&M Edna Mine 4 02/24/06
