EXHIBIT D (CONTINUED)
(Revised 02/07/95)
To summarize, the Mining Areas are as follows:
Area 1 - 5 Acres
Area 2A - 50 Acres
Area 2B - 91 Acres
Area 2C - ~ Acres
Total 180± Acres
A summary of how each area will be mined is as follows:
Area 1 - This area will be wet mined, and backfilled with sand
spoils from this area and other mining areas of the
property. There will be no import of material for
backfilling from out of the permit area. Approximately
8,000 cubic yards of topsoil/overburden will be stored
and temporarily revegetated in the 25' setback area along
the east side of this area and the south side of Area 2B
for later permanent revegetation. No mining into the
water table will be undertaken, until a temporary
augmentation plan has been approved.
Area 2A - The South Platte River channel improvements and slurry
wall will be installed in the areas shown on the
accompanying map after the relevant approvals are
obtained. The present plan calls for removal of the
existing berm along the southern portion of this area,
installation of two riprap trenches, and installation of
a grade control structure. The slurry wall along the
River will be installed behind (east and south) of the
riprap trenches and grade control structures. The exact
location and alignment of these improvements are
conceptually shown on the MINING PLAN MAP, EXHIBIT C-2,
but will be exactly determined by final engineering and
approval of UD&FCD. No mining will occur in this area,
until UD&FCD and any other relevant approvals are
obtained, and after approvals has been obtained, no
mining will occur north and west of the riprap trenches.
Area 2B - Approximately 8,000 cubic yards of topsoil/overburden
will be stored and temporarily revegetated in the 25'
setback area with the stored material from Area 1. This
topsoil/overburden storage will remain until the end of
mining to act as a permanent reserve for revegetation.
However, as much as possible, topsoil/overburden will be
immediately used in previously mined areas to build the
required slopes of the reservoir and for revegetation of
the banks/periphery areas. Topsoil/overburden may also
be temporarily stored on the future bean along the South
Platte River outside of the South Platte River floodway,
and/or in other 25' periphery setback areas.
