Space projects. The remaining volume will not be filled. The side materials on the north and south
edges will be regraded over this inert material to produce the 3:1 or better sideslope.
Proposed Project Schedule: It is our intent to excavate [he Sombrero Marsh materials over the next 3
to 5 years depending on availability of funding and backfill these materials into the North Clay Pit site.
Post Minine Site Confi uration: The purpose of filling and regrading the North Clay Pit area is to
develop the site into a hilltop that gently slopes to the east to the present gravel access road. Due to [he
shape of the North Clay pit, the fill material from Sombrero Marsh and other Open Space projects will
fill approximately %: of the present void. By regrading the clayey-gravel side slopes over this inert
material and ground shaping, the final hilltop will generally slope to the east. This gently; slope to the
east with a minimum of 3:1 side-slopes will be easier to revegetate and maintain. Periodically during
the fill operations, the inert fill placed in the pit area will be regraded with heavy earth moving
equipment (bulldozers and /or motor graders) to consolidate the materials and remove amr voids.
This reclamation plan is compatible with the present approved Jenkins Site Reclamation Plan.
Topsoil Needs: We presently have a permit from the State of Colorado Health Department to use
City of Boulder Water Treatment Plant Filter fines as a top soil amendment. This material will be
blended into the top cover materials and then the area seeded with native grasses. We are confident this
reclamation effort will produce a quality short grass prairie. We have used the filter fines amendment
method to reclaim the North Processing Plant area (5 acres) just southwest and adjacent to the North
Clay pit. Your last inspection of the old North Processing Plant area did not produce any comments
concerning this reclaimed area.
Attached is a layout of the proposed Jenkins Pit Gate Sign for your review.
Affidavit: We hereby certify that all materials placed into the North Clay Pit area will be clean
and inert fill as defined by Rule 1.1(20).
If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact me.
Sincerely,
.c
Glenn D. Camere, P.E.
Project Manager
Attachment: Gate Sign
owl, sp~..~,~ w,rdr~~
