Existing sides are sloped are
approximately 2:1 with very little side slope vegetation.
Intent of Backfill: The purpose for filling the clay pit with inert material is two-fold.
1) The present site does not have sufficient remaining stockpiled or side slope materials to produce
the required minimum side slope of 3:1 or greater for proper vegetation establishment.
2) The City of Boulder has recently purchased a prairie pothole called Sombrero M~irsh in Boulder
County which has been partially tilled with inert materials. Our goal to reclaim Sombrero Marsh to a
pre-development condition requires the removal of this material.
Approximate Volume of Inert Material to be backfilled: Although the present volume; of the clay pit
is estimated to be approximately 70,000 cubic yards, it is our intent to backfill the site with
approximately 30,000 to 40,000 cubic yards of inert material from Sombrero Marsh and other Open
q~, s~...~- Q w,rdr~~
