SAFETY PRECAUTIONS AND INSTALLATION PROCEDURES FOR RESIN ROOF BOLTS <br />1. Resin roof bolts will be installed in accordance with the manufacturer's <br />recommendations. If failure of a resin bolt occurs, the bolting operation <br />will be discontinued until the reason for failure has been determined. If <br />the reason for failure cannot be determined, changes in the roof bolting <br />procedure will be made to adequately support the roof, or supplemental <br />supports will be used. <br />2. a) All resin roof bolts will be used with bearing plates approved for <br />use at [he mine. <br />b) Bearing plates will be installed tight against the mine roof or ma- <br />terials used in conjunction writh roof bolts. <br />3. a) The resin will not be used if manufacturer's recommended shelf life <br />is exceeded, unless inspected by the manufacturer's representative <br />and found safe [o use. <br />b) Resin packages will be protected from excessive heat and cold during <br />storage, and will not be used in areas where [he ambient temperature <br />falls outside the range recommended by the manufacturer. <br />c) Hroken cartridges of resin or cartridges that show signs of deteri- <br />oration will not be used. <br />4. ldhen roof bolter operators are installing resin roof bolts, they shell ob- <br />serve evidence of resin filling the complete hole at least once each face <br />cycle. <br />`-~ <br />Page Eight <br />Initial 11/01/86 <br />
