SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR FULL ROOF BOLTING Con['d. <br /> 6, A suitable roof sounding device will be provided on the roof drilling ma- <br /> chine and continuous miner. this device will be made available to all <br /> face workmen wfio do not normally carry a roof sounding device. <br />7, Upon completion of the loading cycle, a warning device will be conspicu- <br />ously placed to warn persons of an unsupported area. <br />8. Roof bolts installed in the approved pattern will no[ be used as an anchor <br />point (belts, fans, etc.) <br />9, a) Mine openings will not be cut through into areas that are not total- <br />ly supported by either temporary supports on a maximun of five (5) <br />foot centers or permanent supports installed on pattern as required <br />by [he approved Plan. <br /> b) q'hen a mine opening holes through into a permanently supported en- <br /> try, <br />ered room, or crosscut, the intersection so created shall be consid- <br />unsupported and no work other than installing temporary or per- <br /> mane nt support shall be done in or inby such intersection until the <br /> new opening is either permanently supported with at least one (l) <br /> row of bolts or timbered off with at least one (1) row of posts on <br /> not more than five (5) foot centers across the openings. <br />10. A side cut will be started only in areas that are permanently supported. <br />Once the sidecut has been completed, the sidecut shall be supported by at <br />leas[ one (1) tow of bolts or timbered off with at least one (1) row of <br />posts on no[ more than five (5) foot centers across [he opening prior to <br />working in the intersection. <br />11. a) When crossbars are required, they will be installed so that the load <br />on the support is equally distributed. <br />b) On mobile equipment haulageways, all crossbars or beams shall be in- <br />stalled with some means of support that will prevent the beam from <br />falling in [he event the supporting legs are accidently dislodged. <br />Page Six A <br />Initial 11/01/86 <br />
