SAFETY PRECAUTIONS FOR FULL ROOF BOLTING <br />A full roof bolting plan shall be construed to mean bolting as the primary means <br />of roof support. <br />1. Roof bolts shall be installed in the sequence and manner shown in the ac- <br />companying drawings. <br />2. All roof bolts used as the primary means of roof support will be of the <br />resin anchorage type or point anchor resin anchorage. <br />3. a) All personnel required [o install roof supports shall be trained by <br />a qualified supervisor or experienced operator before being made <br />solely responsible for such work. Tnis training shall ensure that <br />such persons are familiar with the functions of the support being <br />used, proper installation procedures, and the approved Roof Control <br />Plan. A record of [his training shall be kept a[ the mine. <br />b) Supervisors in charge and miners who install supports shall be in- <br />formed of an approved Roof Control Plan and any changes that are <br />more stringent than in a previously approved Roof Control Plan not <br />later than their first working shift following receipt of [he ap- <br />proved Plan. As soon as possible, but no later than three weeks af- <br />ter receipt of this approved Plan, all provisions contained herein <br />shall be fully explained [o all miners whose duties requite them to <br />be on a "working section." All new miners shall have the hazards of <br />mine roof and ribs and the content of this Plan explained to them <br />before [hey start to w rk. <br />4. An emergency supply of suitable roof support material including temporary <br />supports sufficient to support the roof during one complete cycle of min- <br />ing, will be provided as close as practical to the working places and/or <br />can be delivered to the working place within thirty minutes. <br />5. To enable miners to perform their duties from a safe position without ex- <br />posure to falling material, a bar of suitable length and design shall be <br />provided on ell mobile face equipment, except haulage equipment. <br />Page Six <br />Initial 11/01/86 <br />
