area. The Colorado State University Cooperative Extension Service, or representative agent
• in Routt County, will be contacted for recommendations as to specific herbicides end
application rates for the targeted weeds. Specifications listed on the herbicide label will
be strictly followed.
Xerbi tides will be applied by loedout personnel or contracted to an outside commercial
herbicide applicator or the Routt County Yeed Control District. All applicators will 6e
properly licensed end/or certified es necessary [o apply herbi tides as per Colorado statute
end certification and licensing procedures administered through the Division of Plant
Industry, Colorado Department of Agriculture. Controlled areas will be monitored for the
effectiveness of the herbicide applications. If necessary, follow-up applications will be
made to achieve the desired control. In treatment areas where control of weeds has been
successful but the density of desirable perennial species is low, reseeding with an
appropriate permanent mix will be done. Records of herbicides used (type and rate), area
treated, and dates of treatment will be maintained et the operations office. The inf ormetion
will be reported in the annual reclamation report.
Additional measures in the weed control program include the purchase of clean, high quality
• permanent seed mixes with no noxious weed content end restricted mulching. The problem with
noxious weeds and strew mulch has been previously described.
Pest control is not anticipated. If infestations occur which jeopardize suctessf ul
reclamation, a pest control plan will be developed for the targeted pest. The plan will be
developed in consultation with the CDMG and CODY.
Regrading or Stabilizing of Rills and Gullies.
Seeded areas will be monitored following spring snowmelt and heavy reins. If monitoring
indicates the presence of excessive rills and gullies, eLOSer observation will attempt to
determine the cause of the gullying. These areas will be identified on a map.
Natural geomorphic processes in the reclaimed area will be emphasized, taking into account
slope, aspect, and soil conditions of the site. Further consideration will be given to the
normal climatic patterns end rate of vegetation establishment and development in the subject
area. Evaluation will include whether the rills and gullies will prohibit successful
. revegetation or will disrupt achievement of the postmining land use.
7
