during the non-irrigation season with respect to a priority call from the Yampa River.
The replacement requirements for the combined depletions would total 37.40 acre-feet.
Peabody has contracted with the Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District for
water stored in Stagecoach Reservoir. This reservoir is located on the Yampa River
south of Steamboat Springs. Up to 50 acre-feet, less appropriate transit losses, will be
available to Peabody from Stagecoach Reservoir for replacement of Peabody's out-of-
priority depletions during the non-irrigation seoson. Release of such water from
Stagecoach Reservoir will be coordinated with the Division Engineer and the Upper
Yampa Water Conservancy District.
Recommended Terms and Conditions
The plan for augmentation will allow Peabody to develop ayear-round water supply
for domestic and industrial purposes at the Seneca II-W Mine. The following terms and
conditions are recommended so that other existing water uses will not be impacted
adversely.
I. An accumulating flow meter should be installed on Well No. I and on the
discharge line from Well No. I to Pond 006. Well pumpage should be recorded
monthly and deliveries to Pond 006 should be recorded weekly. Volumes of
water used from Pond 006 for industrial purposes should be measured and
recorded weekly.
2. A staff gage should be installed on Pond 006 and elevation-arep-capacity
relationships should be developed. Pond elevation, water surface area, and
total storage should be recorded weekly.
3. During the irrigation season, out-of-priority storage at Pond 006 will be
limited to 36.1 acre-feet. pumpage from Well No. I will be limited to 56.5
acre-feet per year. These limitations are larger than the expected water
demands.
4. The streamflow that is tributary to Dry Creek and stored in Pond 006 will be
estimated by the following equation:
where I = streamflows and mine pit discharges stored in Pond 006,
S2 = total storage at end of period,
SI = total storage at beginning of period,
E = evaporation from water surface,
W = water pumped from Well No. I and stored in Pond 006, and
D = water pumped from Pond 006 and used for industrial purposes.
14
