Dept. of Natural Resources
/l~J~G r)o t'~S,
In response to your letter of June 7, 1983, and our several conversations in
the interim, please accept the following:
1. The Permittee should be Colorado Pfarketing Associates, Inc.
2. Mining Plan -
~ A. Tl~e topsoil depth ranges from 0 to approximately 12",
~f ~pQro•~~~ ~~ ~ (as you know, the State of Colorado mined this site
04 ~` a ~a iri 1963, and no topsoil was replaced). There is no
~ M' topsoil on the Haul road area.
Cor Mme` ~ MOS
1~ The maximum depth to be mined ranges from approximately
(~' S' to approximately 40'. This is, of course, based on
.re `I ~~ i0 tl~e maximum elevation of permitted area of 6490',.and
.tt S M r~A the elevation of Plum Creek at that point of 6440'. We
~r r. `y'1 would expect to encounter ground water at 6440 or eome-
~ t 6~L ~ A what higher, depending on season - runoff, etc.
Pb a
'~~ Ffu B. We will stockpile and plant the topsoil as you suggest
~ 1 r i and further, we should be able to leave the area that
P,.,c we are not going to mine each year undisturbed and stock-
pile and plant as we go each year.
C. Attached please find a copy of the Access permit Application
and the Response from the State and County.Re: Same.
You will recall that you and I discussed a "low water crossing,"
rr ~•~5 but I am afraid that would render the pit inacessable for
~ JtJ~ some time in the spring, so; I would suggest a culvert type
• ~l ~, t ~~r/ crossing with whatever size and qutintity culverts are
~~ Oo (,t. ~ necessary to accommodate the maximum flow.. as you require.
~'! )~r° ~ r~ Both the upstream and downstream wings will be rip-rapped as
~1 ~t~ CJ' ` needed to prevent erosion and the crossing will one (1) foot
10 lower elevation than the service road for 1-25.
