MINING PLAN
I'
I'
I'
I'
I
I
~J
1
The cevelopment of this site will be in three separate phases as depicted on the
Mining Plan Map.
The overburden on Phase I will be removed and will be utilized to construct an
earthen berm in the north-east corner of the site. This berm is a requirement
of our Mesa County Permit and will serve as a sound and visual barrier for the
propE~rty that is adjacent.
The area in Phase 2 and 3 will be used as process and stockpile areas while
operations are conducted in Phase 1.
Operations will proceed then to the west
3. As the operations move to the west,
and stockpile areas.
into Phase 2 and subsequently into Phase
the pit floor will be used as process
Our intent is to situate processing equipment as far to the south as is feasible.
It i<_ anticipated that there will be considerable quantities of overburden to
be dealt with. Some of this overburden will be useable as a topsoil and will
be utilized in the rehabilitation of the site. This soil can be placed in a berm
on the north side of the property. The soil can be placed in along, low windrow
for future use.
A 100' greenbelt area will be left on the south property line, adjacent to the
Colorado River. This area is to be used as a public trail under the jurisdiction
of Mesa County and the Colorado Riverfront Commission.
As depicted on the Mine Plan Map there are four easements that influence the size
and shape of the lake.
The operations at this site shall include mining of sand and gravel, crushing
and processing sand and gravel and the use of the processed aggregates in the
production of Hot Bituminous Asphalt and/or Ready Mixed Concrete.
Access onto the site will be off C 1/2 Road to the north.
' It will be necessary to maintain a dewatered condition during certain phases of
operations. A Colorado Department of Health NPDES Permit shall be obtained for
this purpose. Dewatering will be performed in a safe and responsible manner.
' The method of mining/processing will be that insitu material will be processed.
This necessitates the placement of the crusher plant relatively close to the pit
t run in each phase. The crushed material will then be conveyed to the stockpile
area for storage.
As previously discussed, the overburden in Phase 1 will be removed and will be
' used in the berms that were mentioned.
The overburden in Phase 2 will be used to slope the banks and to create varying
' degrees of water depth in Phase 1.
1
