' ~~~

State of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation
September 20, 1978
Page 2
I was very disappointed with the poor quality of the re-
duced reproduction of the Concrete Quarry property on map
pcc-1395 overlays used for Exhibits Cc and Fc and drafting
personnel was not available for retracing these older, poor
quality tracings. Ideal will be doing exploration work in
this area in the near future for which new maps will be re-
quired.
Attached is a cross-section sketch looking northward from
the east-west coordinate 109,000 (near the middle of Cut #2)
which gives a better indication of Beaver Creek, quarry floor
elevation, the limestone deposit and overburden. The base of
the 50 foot average thickness of limestone (quarry floor)
slopes to the southwest as the Portland deposit. The quarry
floor will be an extension of the old Concrete Quarry floor
which is 60 to 70 feet above the bed of Beaver Creek. This
elevation, with the southwest slope of the quarry floor, will
enable good control of any sediment problem to Beaver Creek
from the quarry operation. The small volume of overburden
will be stockpiled westward from the initial quarry cuts and
later returned to the depleted quarry floor as the only available
soil substitute for reclamation purposes.
(3) "Will Ideal agree to provide the Board with channel con-
figuration and design for Bear Creek before any diversion
is started (in about 25 years)?
The statement in my letter dated September 8, 1978 that this
diversion would be in accord with regulations and engineering
practices applicable at the time the diversion is designed
was intended to include Board approval as well as those ap-
provals required from all water, environmental and governmental
agencies.
If you would like any additional clarification of items, please
advise.
Sincerely, _~~~
' ~~"~
G ~j~, ~
~~C ~ ~~•:'uL~•' ~ ~
K~,~,
R.
