• The acreage associated with the proposed mining area is 16.2
acres with the coal seam being approaimately 7 feet is thickness
within the mine plan area. The seam is split by a parting which
averages 3 feet in thickness. This parting will be removed by dozers
prior to mining the lower seam.
Sacept for the temporary overburden stockpile, rough backfilling
and grading will be completed within 180 days following coal removal.
The final graded elopes will not be uniform, but will undulate to
minimize erosion and to mazimize water retention for vegetative
growth. The undulating surface will match the overall approzimate
premining grades and thereby eliminate any need for cu[ and fill
terraces. Pinal grading will be done along the contour by dozers and

motor graders, unless the grade is such that it presents a safety
hazard to the operator. At the completion of the final grading,
topsoil will be redistributed over the regraded spoil. Following
topsoil redistribution, but prior to seedbed preparation, a final
grading will be performed by the Caterpillar 16G grader. Preparation
for seeding will be achieved through chisel plowing to alleviate
compaction, to create a good bond between the topsoil and spoil, and
to promote root penetration. After the seeding of the area occurs,
contour furrvving will be performed to stabilize the site prior to
establishment of the vegetation.
•
2.05 - 7
