The following information pertaining to wildlife is provided for use 6y <br />the Land Reclamation Board in their consideration ^f a mining permit <br />• far Cotter Corporation <br />C-JD-9 Mine (Monozram Mesa Rim - Parad rl <br />The Colorado Division of Wildlife does hereby find, to the best of our <br />knowledge, that the impact of the proposed mining operation on wildlife <br />t,~ill be <br />X minor In rocky, steep terrain. <br />•X moderate In edges and sagebrush parks. <br />major <br />Mine Location: See attached sheet. <br />Wildlife Species List: (may he attached) Mam species to be impacted <br />will be deer and elk. Coyotes, bobcats, mountain lions, cottontail rabbits, <br />jack rabbits, prairie dogs, and many species of small mammals and birds inhabit <br />the area. Also bald and golden eagles frequent the area. <br />Endangered Species Impacted: None that are known. <br />Rssessment of Impact on Wildlife: (may be attached) Minimal impact in steep, <br />• rocky terrain. The major impacts to wildlife, namely deer and elk on winter ra-.ge, <br />will be from road construction, loss of habitat and forage, and human activity and <br />noise associated with the project. The most significant impact will be the roads <br />through sagebrush parks and around their edges. This keeps deer and elk a~ay from <br />forage and escape cover. <br />+ t <br />Mine Reclamation Recommendations: (may be attached) Exploration and unused <br />service roads in the area should be closed and revegetated with native vegetation. <br />Ponds should be developed where possible. Brush piles should be made to benefit <br />small mammals.
