existing roads wherever practical. The lines will be anchored to prevent damage due to surging
in the lines. Flexible hosing will be laid out cross-country to minimize total line length
and/or to maximize operational efficiency of the system. The cross-country route would be
from the Shaft Canyon Road to the reclaimed 14-07 pad.
The main waterline system will continue to utilize the existing portion of the road
above the Sylvester Gulch airshafts and wilt follow the proposed route of the Shaft
Canyon Road up to proposed drill pad 24-08 and cross-country up the ridge to the 14-07
pad and thence along this road to the West Bench Road to tie-into two portable water
tanks at the 23-OS pad site and from there out the West Flat Iron Extension to 19-01/03
pad. Pumps may also be situated at this site to distribute the water to service the LM-140
rig if needed.
Water for drilling the Box Canyon wells (19-07 and 19-08) would be pumped
from the North Fork of the Gunnison via flexible hosing up to the well sites.
The projected waterline, pump, and water tank locations are provided on the
attached Map 3. MCC will identify and mark the waterline alignments prior to
installation for review and approval by the responsible USFS representative.
STAGING AREAS
MCC will utilize existing drill pad locations for staging areas. The staging areas will allow
MCC to temporarily store equipment and supplies used in the drilling and venting
programs, and to store materials required for the continuing reclamation of past drill sites
and roads as well as the interim reclamation of new roads as they are developed. In particulaz,
MCC would store large quantities of certified weed-free straw for mulching purposes to
minimize traffic on the Minnesota Creek and Dry Fork roads. The ability to store items such
as casing, drill pipe, and methane exhausters close to the work areas is beneficial to both
the USFS and MCC. During inclement weather periods, access on the temporary roads with
heavy loads is difficult, dangerous, and time consuming. Having the material close at hand will
minimize road damage and delays to the drilling.
Surplus supplies, debris, and equipment will be removed from the staging areas once it is
no longer needed. Wintertime storage of supplies including waterline, casing, valves, and
fittings is requested. The location of the wintertime staging area storage site will be
detennined with the responsible USFS representative.
MCC proposes the following existing sites as staging areas:
22-03
23-OS
1 -23-01
15-OS
tt
