subsequently reclaimed and is used as an ATV trail. The road is approximately seven
eighths mile in length.
Construction requirements for the routes vary, dependent upon existing conditions.
The RAV-5 Road is currently used as an ATV trail. Returning the roadbed to service will
require, re-establishing road width, brush removal as necessary, establishing ditches and
drainage structures, and adding gravel as necessary.
The Box Canyon Road has previously been used as a jeep trail and as access to
exploration drill sites for 96-14-1, 5-30 and 96-14-2 and is currently reclaimed. This road
would be reconstructed along the same route with a 14-foot wide road to access holes 19-07
and 19-08 and as future access for projected holes in panels 20-and 21. Provisions will
be made during construction in accordance with best management practices and USFS
oversight to address the drainage along the road and anticipated drainage issues with the
proposed pads. It is also anticipated that gravel placement will be required in several areas
along the route. Gravel placement will be on an as-needed basis and with the approval of the
USFS representative.
MCC requests the ability to use pickup trucks, ATVs, snowmobiles, snow cats,
for primary access to the project area. Specific needs with respect to winter access to the
project area will be discussed at the winter operations meeting in the Fall of 2005. Heavy
equipment including but not limited to bulldozers, dump trucks, backhoes, track hoes,
water trucks, maintainers, will be utilized to construct and maintain the roads during the field
season. Prior to road construction, MCC will consult the Forest Service.
OTHER CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES
Other construction activities planned for the project area in 2005 may include
obliteration of user developed ATV trails. MCC will reclaim these trails as a part of the
Sylvester Gulch Road construction.
MCC may also install one or two radio repeaters to improve safety and
communications in the project azea. These repeaters are solar-powered approximately the size
on an office desk. MCC would install them on existing drill pads or staging area locations
and protect them with chain link fence panels.
PLANNED EXPLORATION HOLES
There are exploration holes planned for 2005. Plans for these holes were
submitted to the USFS in a separate document.
