I
that present concentrations at the Deepe Farm site are
not greatly higher than natural background.
For comparison, monitored TSP data are available from
other area locations. In downtown Boulder, the 1980
annual geometric mean TSP concentration was 62 . 2 pg/m3;
24-hour concentrations in Boulder ranged from 27 to
216 Ug/m3. Annual means at Rocky Flats from 1974 through
1979 ranged between 32 and 66 pg/m3. Concentrations in
downtown Denver are typically 90 to 120 pg/m3 annual
geometric mean, with 24-hour highs of several hundred
micrograms per cubic meter.
•
It appears then that TSP concentrations at the Deepe Farm
site are typical of generally rural areas in eastern
Colorado. The average concentration is slightly greater
than background, but lower than Boulder or metropolitan
areas. Daily values are well below standards, but there
are occasional days with relatively high concentrations
due to high winds .
No dustfall measurements have been made at the site; there
. are no applicable standards for dustfall in Colorado. For
reference, dustfall rates less than 20 tons per square mile
per month are considered light, values 20 to 40 tons/mil/mo.
G-5
