•
Ray Miller/M93-087
December 15, 1993
page 2
Exhibit D: The Reclamation Plaa provided should specifically
address excluding grazing for vegetation establishment. Also it
should address stabilizing topsoil stockpiles during mining. If
temporary seeding is to be done, we need the specifications. If
such seeding is not to be done, please state how topsoil will
remain stable (have your statement reviewed by SCS also).
Exhibit E: The map originally provided is not sufficient. Please
refer to the map requirements on page 10 in the application
package. Specifically the Division needs a mining map with scale
large enough to show locations of stockpiled topsoil, overburden,
(clay) and sand and gravel. It should show roads, loadouts and
other structures, equipment storage, plus fences, windmills, etc.,
both within the permit and the 200 feet around it. It should show
depth of pit, where mining will begin and the direction it will
proceed. A reclamation mnp should show the areas that will be
graded to a slope (with amount of slope identified), any portions
of roads to be reclaimed or remain after reclamation, which areas
are to be revegetated or remain bare, any fencing to be installed
for reclamation, and the thickness of the replaced overburden and
topsoil.
Thank you for your attention to addressing these items. once we
receive your information, application review and processing may
continue.
Please be reminded that until a permit is issued, the county may
not begin mining. As with all the county's pits, after this permit
is issued the site should be identified by a sign and boundary
delineated with corner markers.
Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
Sincerely,
~~ ~-~v~~
Bob Oswald
Environmental Protection Specialist
(dmgcor12.93/4-5)
