As a result of our discussion and a phone conversation with dlr. Brad James
of the Colorado !".fined Land P.ecl~amation board, I would recommend the following
items be added to the permit applications for the Koenig, David Ranch and
Pierce pits.

1. As a result of the mining process, we anticipate that there will be some
uneveness or irregularity in th'e bottom and banks of the pits. Curing the rec-
lamation process, many o` these depressed areas and irregularities should be pre-
served to present a more natural habitat for fish and wildlife.
2. As indicated on the Extraction Plan Paps and Reclamation Plan Plaps, a bar-
rier strip shall be main*.ained between the pit and the river. Rs a general
rule the barrier strip shall have a minimum width of 100 feet.
3. Topsoil shall be stripped from all areas to be affected by the mining op-
eration, stockpiled separate from other material, and protected against erosion.
Curing the reclamation o:,eration following filling and grading, topsoil will be
spread over all affected areas to a minimum depth of six inches.
4. The seeding rates and mixtures, as recommended by the Soil Conservation Ser-
vice, shall be as follows:
