BCB, Benson Brothers, lien t;anyon quarry
areas where it would not. It appears the economic limit of removing overburden and
extracting the red shale may preclude the mining from actually reaching the east side of the
dividing ridge crest. However, we would request the County support the placement of the
actual mine permit boundary on the west side of that ridge to assure the operation does not
traverse over its crest to the east.
It is our understanding that the property owners adjoining the south boundary of fhe
Benson Brothers property are very concerned about a similar possibility of mining crossing
the crest of a similar but east west oriented ridge toward their property. The south s+de of
that ridge is steep and slopes directly to a series of bluffs and cliffs directly above their
homes. There are many potential safety and storrnwater issues relative to any disturi>ance
on that steeper southern slope. We would support and ask the County to also support the
south offset property owners' effort to restrict the mining boundary to the north side of that
ridge.
Very Truly You. _ I o
dam!/
Bruce C.
