APPENDIX A <br />• LABORATORY SOIL TESTING <br />GENERAL <br />A total of five disturbed soil samples were obtained from <br />the surficial soils of the area. The samples were selected <br />so that they represent individual soil types as they were <br />identified during the field mapping program. <br />Two samples were obtained from the colluvial soils; <br />sample No. 1 is from the middle part of the portal cut. <br />Sample No. 2 is from the road cut No. 7. <br />Sample No. 3 represents the terrace deposits; it was obtained <br />from the road cut No. 6. <br />• Sample No. 4 represents the talus deposits of the lower part <br />of the valley; it was obtained from a recent excavation in <br />the Munger Creek valley. <br />Sample No. 5 represents the alluvial deposits of the Munger <br />Creek; it was obtained from the valley bottom close to the <br />confluence with East Salt Creek. <br />The locations of all samples are shown on Plates 2 A - 2 D. <br />TESTING PERFORMED <br />Following tests have been performed on all samples: Atter- <br />berg limits, gradation analyses (sieve analyses) and Standard <br />• Compaction Tests, ASTM 698-78, Method A.
