-18-
•
The_cut No._7 is a long and high cut excavated in colluvial
soils. Its height reaches probably more than 60 feet at several
locations. The average cut slope is between 50 to 60 degrees.
At several locations, significant sloughing can be observed.
As a result of sloughing, the cut portions above the sloughs
are undercut and they are at a vertical slope. It can be expected
that sloughing will continue in the future. Compared to other
cuts along the gravel road, this road cut shows numerous sloughing
problems.
The_last_road_cut,_No._8, is again excavated in colluvial
-- --- --- --- --- -
soils. Its maximum height reaches some 55 feet; the cut has
been excavated at a slope of approximately 45 to 55 degrees.
Extensive sloughing can be observed along all the cut length.
Because of sloughing, the upper cut portions are steeper, up
to vertical; the lower cut portions are flatter,
Basic data on individual cuts as discussed in this chapter
are tabulated in Table 1, Existing Road Cuts Parameters. (See
page 19.)
•
