Phases A, B and C - In consultation with area grass experts,
these phases will be seeded with an irrigated seed mix containing
appropriate percentages of the following:
Orchard Grass
Perennial Rye
Tall Fescue
Smooth Brome
Annual Rye
The recommended rate of seeding for the above is 20 - 25 lbs./
acre utilizing the drilled placement method.
Phase D is anticipated to reclaimed as a reservoir with 3:1 slope
banks. These banks will be seeded with the seed mix and method
described above.
Phase E will be seeded with Crested Wheat Grass at a
recommended rate of 12 lbs./acre utilizing the drilled placement
method.
The seed types listed above are currently available locally in sufficient
quantities to meet the proposed reclamation. Seeding will be done at
appropriate seasonal periods as recommended by area experts.
(e) Reclamation Implementation Schedule:
(i) It is estimated that reclamation for each ten-acre section within
Phases A, B, C and E will require a period of six to nine months
following the cessation of mining. This is based on two to three
months of overburden and topsoil replacement earthwork and
allowance for seasonal seed placement opportunities.
Reclamation of Phase D will likely be completed in three to six
months following mining dependent upon seasonal seeding
windows.
(ii) As mentioned above, reclamation will progress in sections not to
exceed ten acres within any given phase of operation.
(iii) The proposed sequence of reclamation stages is consistent
throughout Phases A, B, C, D, and E.
1. Replacement of overburden -rough grading
2. Replacement of topsoil (where applicable)
3. Fnal grading
4. Seeding
