Permeability is slow. Water erosion hazard is high. Depth to ground water is
• greater than 5 feet. Effective rooting depth is between 35 and 60 inches. Stoniness
class is 0.
Land capability unit is Vlle.
MAP UNIT SkE: SKYLICK LOAM, 30 TO 65 PERCENT SLOPE
This deep, well-drained, fine textured soil occurs on steep and very steep slopes,
steep draws and side and upper-slopes. This mapping unit occurs in the west I/4
Section 12 and east I/q Section II, T.SN R.86W, at 6,800 to 7,000 feet elevation.
The soil profile of this mapping unit does not vary significantly in horizonation
as described for the Skylick loam, IS to 30 percent slope. This mapping unit does
not contain Cochetopa inclusions.
Permeability is slow. Water erosion hazard is high. Depth to ground water is
greater than 5 feet. Effective rooting depth is between 35 and 60 inches. Stoniness
class is 0.
Land capability unit is Vlle.
• MAP UNIT SpC: SPLITRO SANDY LOAM, 8 TO IS PERCENT SLOPE
This shallow, well to somewhat excessively well-drained, loamy soil occurs on
moderately to strongly sloping ridge slopes and ridge crests. It is formed in
sandstone residuum. This soil occurs in Sections 30 and 31, T.SN R.85W at 6,700 to
7,900 feet elevation.
Typically, the depth of the surface horizon range from 5 to 22 inches thick. The
soil usually exhibits mollic colors (10 YR 5/2, 4/2, 3/2) to bedrock.
Presently this soil is used primarily for rangeland and livestock grazing.
Vegetation includes Quercus ag mbelii gambel oak, Artemesia tridentate big sage, and
Bromus spp. Brome grasses.
Permeability is moderately rapid. Water erosion hazard is moderate. Depth to
ground water is greater Than 5 feet. Effective rooting depth varies with depth of
bedrock, usually about 12 to 17 inches from The surface. Stoniness class is 3.
Land capability unit is Vle.
• MAP UNIT SpD: SPLITRO SANDY LOAM, 15 TO 30 PERCENT SLOPE
This shallow, well to somewhat excessively well-drained loamy soil forms on
moderately steep to steep ridges and side-slopes of ridges in sandstone residuum.
