Ames did not perform excavation remediation of Phase IVb underground workings during this
reporting period.
Ames performed clearing and grubbing of topsoil and removed trees near the temporary access road
and in the western portion of Phase IVb. Topsoil and slash were piled locally and relocated to the
permanent topsoil stockpile above Phase IVc.
Ames continued to excavate azound and demolish the retaining wall at the Cazlton Mill. Ames used
Caterpillaz 330 and 375 excavators to remove cut material and wall. Ames hauled deleterious
material to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Ames resumed removal of old Highway 67 pavement between the truck crossing and the Carlton
Mill. Ames hauled
deleterious material to Upper Arequa Gulch and hauled topsoil to the permanent stockpile above
Phase IVc.
Ames resumed remediation of underground workings in Phase IVc by excavating and backfilling
UG-246, UG-234f-h, UG-231, UG-232, and UG-UNK-4-6. All workings were designated as
"Shallow Shafts" and remediated accordingly.
Ames began placement of SF in Phase IVc at the saddle berm. Ames conducted local cut to fill in
this location. SF materials were placed in horizontal lifts typically not exceeding 2 feet in loose
thickness. A Caterpillar CS563C roller provided compactive effort, while a Caterpillaz water wagon
provided moisture conditioning when needed or required.
(See Attachment A for approximate construction locations for all Phase IV azeas.)
Field Monitoring and Testing Activities
Golder observed construction activities associated with Phase IV earthworks. All construction
materials and soil materials were verified as suitable and construction methods were in accordance
with project specifications. Removal of oversized and deleterious material from all fill azeas was
observed.
Golder observed clearing and grubbing within the Phase IV azea. All available topsoil was removed
and deleterious material hauled to Upper Arequa Gulch.
Golder observed demolition of the Cazlton Mill retaining wall. Waste materials were hauled to
Upper Arequa Gulch.
Golder observed and documented excavation and remediation activities associated with the Phase IV
Phme IVa42 NOV IB-Oecl.AOC Golder Associates Inc.
