• III IIIIIIIIIIIIIIII •
Robert D. Corey a9u9.t,.,,__.. Corey
62237 Spring Creek Road
Montrose, Colorado 81401
March 20, 1987
Mined Iand Reclamation Division
423 Centennial Building
1313 Sherman Street
Denver, Colorado 80203 - 2273
Attention: Karen A. Hallner, Reclamation Specialist
Reference: File No. M-87-024, Corey Gravel Pit No. 3
Dear Karen:
As requested I am supplying the following information:
Exhibit C - Mining Plan
REC~IVEC~
MAR 231987
MINED LAND
RECLAMATION DIV131ON
1. The amount of material required to form the three to one slope on the
south face is approximately 70,000 cubic yards. The overburden in the
pit is primarily topsoil that I intend to use in the preparation of a
seed bed. There is approximately 8,800 cubic yards of this material.
The pit will be mined leaving the bulk of the three to one slope in
place.
2. The maximum height of the south face is approximately 35 feet. In the
interest of safety it will be mined in a series of lifts to reduce the
effect of vertical feathering on the mine wall.
3. The depth of overburden varies from three feet to one foot using an
average of one and one-half feet, there is approximately 8,800 cubic
yards of material.
4. Enclosed you will find a map (exhibit E-1) developed using aerial photo-
_ graphs supplied by the soil conversation service. To my knowledge this
represents the area that was disturbed in previous operations and limits
that could be mined under this application. Stakes will be placed at
the southern boundry as requested.
From the measurements taken, mining could proceed 65 feet taking the full
depth of the gravel across the south face and then proceed on a three to
one slope for 105 feet to the south boundry of the pit. This represents
approximately 82,000 cubic yards of usable material. The rate at which
this material will be mined is dependent on economic conditions.
It is my intention to make a yearly reclamation plan starting this year
at the north end and proceed southerly as the mining progresses. Under
this plan I hope to apply for a release on the reclamed acerage.
