D -Mining Plan <br />Hall-Irwin Construction Company will take [he following measures to contain spills or leaks of <br />any stored petroleum products associated with the batch plants. <br />A containment berm and plastic liner will be installed to contain any spill due [o overfill or <br />tank rupture. Tanks will be equipped with gauges to avoid overfilling tanks when deliveries <br />are received. The storage tanks will never be filled to above 90% of tank capacity. <br />• Spills will be immediately cleaned up with absorbent materials which will be kept near <br />fueling area in a metal container. <br />All employees who handle petroleum products at [his facility will be trained in the safe <br />handling of these products, [he operation of equipment and in spill prevention and counter <br />measures. <br />Hall-Irwin will utilize the following Best Management Practices [o minimize the potential for <br />disturbing the water quality in the laterals and ditches and remain in compliance with Rule <br />3.1.6(1): <br />• The active mining area will be surrounded by a dewatering trench. Any water leaving the <br />active mining area will be intercepted by the trench. Water from the trench will be pumped <br />into a settling pond prior to being discharged.
