Va/co T Pit
Las Animas County
Valco Inc.
Exhibit E
•~ Reclamation Plan
All available top soil will be stock piled during excavation of the Pit Area.
Upon completion of the mining operations the slopes on the berms located
on the southern and western boundaries of the Pit Area will be shaped and
graded, utilizing rejected fine material from the crushing and screening
process, to be equivalent to the slope on the western boundary of the pit
area, estimated to be 2:1 or flatter. Remaining rejected fine material from
the crushing and screening process, if any, will be combined with
overburden and spread evenly over the Pit Area.
The existing top soil which was removed during excavation will be spread
over the entire disturbed area to a uniform depth.
Upon completion of spreading the top soil, the entire area will be seeded
to a cover crop of oats. Oats will be seeded at a rate of 25 to 30 bulk
pounds per acre. The cover crop will be seeded prior to May 15`. The
cover crop will not be mechanically harvested or grazed.
• The attached seeding mixture will be drilled into the standing cover crop
during November. The top of the berms will be planted at intervals with
cactus and native brush to approximate the existing vegetation.
The entire area will be excluded from grazing until the seeding is fully
established. If necessary the area will be fenced.
Noxious weeds shall be controlled by mechanical or chemical methods.
Excessive runoff from the site shall be controlled using dikes, containment
reservoirs, and drainage culverts as required. Silt fence will be installed as
required.
2.
