F~ ~7 . . " •
P.eclamaticn Plan - Sunday Kline
The life of the mine is estimated at 10-15 years, very little reclamation
;cork can be done before then. Surrounding lands are used for dry
rangeland and wildlife habitat, therefore the reclamation choice is to
return the af.`ected lands to useable grazing and wildlife values. Recla-
mation will be completed in three phases.
I. Clean-up: to be completed within approximately t;;o years
from the termination of mining activities. The portals c;i11 be locked or s_aled to prevent
hazards or unauthorized entry. The vent fans will be remo•,~ed
and a steel covering will be placed over each vent site.
II. Earthmoving: to be completed ~rithin approximately two years
after termination of mining activities. The :caste mineral
dumps are anticipated to have economic values ;n the future,
so it would not be feasible to spread them over a large area.
The existing topography consists of many steep hills with
slopes up to 30 degrees. The dumps and terrace; will to
contoured by reducing the slopes to blend into the natural
torrain. Berms and gouges would be placed around the
contours and along natural drainages to impede run-off, trap
sediments and natural seeds thereby increasing the ability
to revegetate naturally. (See P~fap} A11 surfaces to be reseeded
rill be scarified to break up th=_ crusts and provide soft
seed beds. The proposed water retention ponds would be
left to trap natural run-off for livestor_k and wildlife.
Cutbanks around vent sites and pads will be resloped to
natural topography. P.oads will be scarified and waterbarred
in appropriate locations to prevent erosion and for water
entrapment.
